My name is Ricardo, and I am very excited about learning Japanese. Brazil has a very large Japanese immigrant population, especially in Sao Paulo, where I come from, I myself am a quarter Japanese. Having always had some exposure to Japanese culture, I have always wanted to learn the language.
It is my first year in Columbia and started Japanese as soon as I could, however I was made to drop it because I was exceeding my credit limits and had to take all the other courses for my Majors ( Pre-Med and Anthropology).
I have just been able to re-take Japanese, and I am so happy. But I have a lot to catch up with! Hiragana, Katana, Grammar and Vocabulary, I lost a whole month of that!
So far, I like the way Japanese is so modular: the particles and verbs are really easy once you get use to them. I also find the words Japanese "borrows" from English very funny.

  2. Thanks for the post, Ricardo san! Where did you get the title from? It sounds really beautiful and suits the weather now. I am glad you could continue the Japanese! I hope you enjoy the class :)

  3. Thank you so much Kaylen and Ishikawa-sensee. I am very glad to be back too! The first thing I noticed in Columbia were all the Ginko leaves everywhere! I was surprised by how green our campus was considering we are in NY. I can’t remember when I learned the word Komorebi, but I always liked it so much since it is so hard to translate but still such a beautiful thing that happens all the time.
Although I misspelled Icho, I have to figure out how to fix that!!
